One of the major and most important service we provide to our clients, is a 24 hour, seven day week, emergency phone line. The number is 98415422 (also our office hours number), where after hours a recorded message will direct you to our on-call vet. Should you get a message bank recording, please leave a message - this usually means we are with another client or physically unable to answer the phone (eg arm inside a cow!)
Consultations - We offer consultation by appointment. Our consultation periods are usually 9am - 12noon, and 4pm - 6pm on weekdays. (Saturday 9am - 12pm). Also, appointments can be made outside of these hours as required.
Home Visits - On Wednesday afternoons we offer our home visit consultation service This is for small animals only, and attracts a small surcharge of $5. Older people or those with multiple animals especially find them very convenient. Bookings are required for this service.
Small Animal Behaviour Consultations - In 2008, Dr Jim Darmody undertook further studies in the field of animal behaviour. We are now offering small animal behaviour consultations - please contact the clinic for more information.
Large Animal Consultations - If a large animal requires emergency treatment, particulary livestock, we will travel to you. It is important however that the cow or horse is in the yards to avoid taking up too much of the vet's time away from the practice.
Surgery - We are able to offer all routine surgical procedures (eg de-sexing operations, lump removals, abscess treatment), using the very best in anaesthetic and pain relief medications.
Dentistry - We offer state of the art high speed pneumatic instruments to be able to do almost everything your dog or cat will ever need in the way of dentistry.
Radiology/Ultrasonography - We have an in-house x-ray processor, which enables us to view our x-rays immediately, and have recently become the proud owners of an ultrasound machine. This enables us to have one more diagnostic tool at our fingertips, and to be better able to serve you and your pet.
Blood Testing - We are able to perform routine haematology and biochemistry on site in 10 minutes, enabling us to avoid long delays involved with sending blood to Perth. This is particularly useful after hours and on weekends, and enables treatment to commence immediately. We have invested heavily to enable us to be a step ahead of the rest.
Seminars - We offer on a regular basis seminars to small groups. Our most recent (July 09) 'Arthritis ' seminar was well attended with plenty of tips from vets and industry reps alike. If you are particularly interested in a seminar for your special interest group, please Contact Us.
Puppy Preschool - We offer classes on Wednesday evenings at 6pm. Experienced veterinary nurse Sarah Tohl runs these fun training courses over 4 weeks. Cost is $40 for 4 lessons. Bookings essential at reception.
School groups - We are very receptive to having school goups in, even to observe live surgery. Teachers please feel free to discuss a convenient time.
Horses can be left in our enclosed yard while country clients shop or do business in Albany. Just ask.
